Jim Metzger | Trombone
Jim is a recently retired band director; teaching 35 years in Central Pennsylvania. He earned his undergraduate degree from Mansfield University and received a Masters of Music with performance emphasis from West Chester University. In addition, he has studied at Villanova University, Philadelphia School of the Arts, and Penn State University. Jim studied conducting from Internationally Recognized Conductor Frederick Fennell and conductor/arranger Jerry Nowak. Active as a guest conductor within Central Pennsylvania, Jim conducted Honors Bands and County Bands in Lancaster, Lebanon and Adams County. Jim also was the conductor of the Lititz Community Band and the Moonlighter’s Big Band in Lititz, PA. As a trombonist, Jim continues to perform with concert bands, jazz bands, pit orchestras and small jazz combos. He enjoys performing in the Allegheny Brass Band, the East Winds Symphonic Band, the Butler Musicians Concert Band, and the King’s Ambassadors Jazz Ensemble. Now, Jim spends his daytime as an Educational Specialist for Johnstonbaugh’s Music Centers. Jim, his wife Terri (also a trombonist), and their cats Annie and Gus (not trombonists) live in Gibsonia.
Teri Metzger | Bass Trombone
Terri is a native of Allison Park, attending Hampton High School. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Music Education and Minor in Music Performance from Indiana University of PA. Studying with Dr. Christian Dickinson at IUP, she was chosen as the Principal Trombonist for the IUP Symphony Orchestra, and was chosen as the Principal Trombonist for the Rocky Ridge Summer Orchestral Program in Estes Park, Colorado. After college, she taught String Orchestra at North Allegheny High School and bands at Providence Heights Alpha, Holy Trinity Catholic School and All Saints School. In Pittsburgh, she played with numerous orchestras and bands including North Pittsburgh Philharmonic (now the Pittsburgh Philharmonic), the Edgewood Symphony, and founded and directed the Brass Staff. After meeting her husband Jim (also a trombonist in the Brass Band), she moved to Lancaster County where she was an Assistant Director with Manheim Central Marching Band and played with the Moonlighter’s Big Band. After retiring from teaching, they moved back to Pittsburgh. Currently, Terri works as a Wine Specialist for the Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores. She enjoys playing tenor/ bass trombone with a number of ensembles in the Pittsburgh area including the Brass Band, the Butler Musician’s Concert Band, and the King’s Ambassadors Jazz Ensemble. Terri enjoys spending time with her husband Jim and their cats Annie Kat and Gus Gus.

Ryan Moser | Bass Trombone
Ryan is a native of Pittsburgh having attended the Shaler Area School district. He attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a Music Education major, and following graduation moved to Boston, Massachusetts. While in Boston, Ryan taught elementary and middle school band in the Brookline Public Schools. He also had the opportunity to study with Gabriel Langfur (bass trombone) of the Rhode Island Philharmonic and Vermont Symphony Orchestra. A short relocation to Columbus, Ohio allowed Ryan to work as a recruiter for The Ohio State University School of Music. Returning home, Ryan hopes to find work teaching and playing. I am excited to be a member of such an excellent ensemble.
